Description

Portrait bust of a middle-aged male, wearing academic gown and hood over a jacket and tie; he has a beard and sideburns without a moustache, thin lips and slight wrinkles below the eyes; the clothing is textured with slight incisions. On the back, the surface texture has been roughened; an uneven edge along the bottom of the bust.

The bust is stood on a white marble slab, which sits between it and the plinth; the plinth is of a variegated marble, square, spreading and slightly stepped; the plinth stands on a columnar pedestal of dark, polished stone, with an octagonal base and square top.
