Description

Terminal portrait bust of a painter carrying his arm palette and brushes. He has lengthy, tousled hair and a beard and is depicted wearing a coat; his head is lowered as he looks at his palette, which is supported with the right arm in which he also holds a number of brushes; the left hand, with the fore-finger extended, rests on the palette. Tall, oblong, integral base, decorated in relief: on the front, immediately below the figure, are a pair of peacocks surmounting a circular plaque showing the emblem of the Welsh dragon within an inscribed border in Welsh, below which is a tree with a pair of pastoral figures sitting at its base.
