We offer two monthly family art clubs, one for 6 – 11 year olds and their families and one for fives and unders and their families.

Family art club for children aged 6 – 11 and their families

First Saturday of each month, 1 – 3pm

Our free monthly art club is designed for you to play, create and enjoy the gallery as a family.

Each art club session lasts two hours but you can stay as long as you like. There's no need to book, though places are limited, so it's best to arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Saturday 5 November, Surreal From Real - this month its all about surrealist sculptures! Taking inspiration from Paul Nash's painting ''Nocturnal Landscape'' families will be using natural forms to create their own surrealist sculpture to take home.

As usual there will be lots of free fantastic art materials to use and our art club artists and volunteers will be on hand and full of ideas to help out so no previous experience is necessary.

Mini Family Art Club for children aged 5 and under and their families

Second Friday of every month, 10.15 – 11.15am and 11.30 – 12.30pm

Make friends, make noise and make a mess at our mini art club for younger children and their gown ups. The sessions involve hands-on workshops especially for little ones, and lots to touch, play with and make. Sessions are ususually messy so wear old clothes if you can!

Booking

To avoid disappointment, you need to book ahead for our mini art club.

We start taking bookings 1 week before the event.

11.30 – 12.30pm. There's a maximum of 40 people per session.

Friday 11 November, its All About Autumn! Taking inspiration from Milliais's 'Autumn Leaves' painting 0-5s and their grown ups will be exploring printmaking  - using autumnal coloured paper - it could get messy!

What happens in the session?

At each session we usually meet in the education studios and have chance to say hello, catch up and talk about this weeks topic. We then head up to galleries to explore and look for things related to the topic of the session. We might sit in a circle and play a game or do a funny dance before heading back down to studio to create something. There are lots of materials to choose from and we encourage everyone to use their imagination to create something special and unique to them.

We try to keep the group reasonably small so you get more space and have more opportunity to talk to our artists and each other. We hope that you have a fun and creative time and feel that you're able to help your little ones exercise those budding imaginations.
