We work with a highly skilled and varied team of professional artists and educators to provide exciting learning experiences at the gallery. We run regular training opportunities for this team to ensure we are continually improving and developing our practise. Our team of Gallery Educators have all been CRB checked.
Harriet uses a range of arts mediums within her work and specialises in photography, exploring the photographic spectrum, from low-fi hand made cameras to new technologies. She explores human interaction and digital manipulation, capturing still life, spaces and people in places.

Sam is a practicing visual artist who has exhibited within the UK and abroad. Working extensively with local community art projects, Sam has helped facilitate, interior and exterior murals with young people. She has experience of teaching pupils of all ages from primary to undergraduate.

Katy studied Fine Art Painting at Chelsea College of Art and has exhibited throughout the UK. Her work as a gallery educator has engaged a wide variety of groups including school children, travelling communities, rough sleepers and young people.

Dena has extensive practical experience of working in museum and gallery education and can call on a wide range of traditional art and design skills when delivering art based education. Dena's background is in craft practice, and her specialist knowledge is particularly in print, glass and ceramics.

Sandra developed a breadth of skills whilst working as Head of Art in a comprehensive school. She appreciates the challenge of developing a broad and balanced curriculum and enjoys working with other teachers to promote the value of art education. Sandra's specialist areas include drawing, painting and 3D design, and she runs annual ceramics courses for children aged 5-14.

Amanda is a visual artist with experience of working with all key stages and types of community groups. She works in schools, libraries and galleries and specialises in mosaics.

Sarah's practice fuses creativity with a passion for recycling. Her work reacts to it's surroundings and tells stories, reliving memories and journeys. She works with young and old in varied venues, both in the UK and abroad.

Jim is well known for observations of urban life in his paintings and drawings depicting cat people. His work can be found in the Arts Council Collection, The Government Art Collection and here at Manchester Art Gallery. In Jim's workshops participants explore how to use the medium of comics to tell stories and promote messages.

Combining over 30 years experience in Early Years education with a passion for Art and Design, Miriam employs a creative cross-curricular approach that excites and inspires learning. Miriam was a Nursery and Reception teacher and has a degree in History of Art and Architecture. She also works at Bolton Museum and Art Gallery.

Matt is an experienced primary teacher, drama specialist and performer/storyteller. Having trained as an actor at Bretton Hall, he is particularly interested in using drama as a means of engaging, empowering and enabling learners. His areas of expertise include puppetry, mask, physical theatre and role play (particularly the 'Mantle of the Expert' approach).

Pat is a painter who explores, experiments and plays with mixed media to create colourful and textural outcomes. By working intuitively to produce an image and not being concerned with controlling what the piece should look like, playful experiments provide an incredible creative process. Pat also works on art projects at Christie's hospital.

Joanne worked in television production for the BBC on documentaries, studio programmes and outside broadcasts before joining the world of teaching. She is an experienced KS1 and 2 educator who specialises in using art and drama to support literacy.

Paulina is a KS1, 2 and 3 teacher who also has 8 years experience as Advisor for Literacy and Teaching and Learning across all Key Stages. She is keen to explore links between all forms of creative writing, particularly poetry and artworks. She writes plays, stories and poems for use in school settings.

Ceris believes creative dance transforms children’s imagination into movement. Having trained at Rambert and Royal Ballet School Ceris is now committed to inspiring children to create their own movement projects using art as a starting point.

Tess is a visual artist and performer who works extensively in the UK and Australia. She has 14 years experience in the community arts sector and has worked with all age groups. Tess’s projects have a strong emphasis on ‘inclusive’ practice, through exploration and play with a variety of visual arts techniques/materials and drama games.
